Paid games in gamejams?

How do you guys feel about having to pay for games that are entered in gamejams?

I feel like if you enter a game jam the game should be free, not cost money. If the game dev. wants to later make a bigger game and charge for that, using the little game jam version as a demo, thats cool. But I dont want to buy your gamejam game…

Also, there should be a filter so only free game that may participate.

It is against the idea of game jams. It’s like entering an art competition and ask judges to pay money to see the work of art. But if someone enters the game jam with a commercial game, then it’s his/her problem: I’m not going to buy the game and I hope no one else will either.

Yes this was about the post. I didnt think the post was going to get a million replies on twitter. I feel like it just isnt in the spirit of the game jam for people to put games on there that cost money!
